The oft-unloved Fender Jazzmaster is turning 50 this year, and despite being sort of the bastard child of Fender's guitar lineup since 1958, they're
throwing it a party. Fender hasn't actually tried to market these guitars to jazz musicians for decades, but they seem to have now embraced the whole underground prog rock/shoegaze/indie rock thing completely and are aiming this celebration squarely at people just like me. They know who's paying their bills these days.
Tickets are only $20 and I think they are still available. The Knitting Factory is a great venue - it's got three floors, and each one is small and intimate. Supposedly this is going to be more than just a concert too - they're gonna have displays, a giveaway, and they've hinted at a major announcement of some kind. Maybe I'll see you there...
